STUPA CENTER IN WINTERSWIJK WOOLD CELEBRATES ITS FIRST ANNIVERSARY
OPEN HOUSE SUNDAY, EVERYONE WELCOME, OCTOBER 18, 2:30–5:00 P.M.
The World Peace Stupa Center Europe was established in 2025 on the initiative of two long-standing Tibetan Buddhist urban centers in Amsterdam and Cologne. They were seeking a location surrounded by nature to facilitate retreats and to build a center of peace within Europe. That location was found in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Achterhoek region, right on the German-Dutch border. A stupa is a Buddhist structure that inspires peace and harmony.
“I am proud and happy that the center is already thriving just one year after its opening! Through open classes, projects, weekend retreats, longer retreats, and work-study programs, volunteers are laying the foundation for inner and outer peace, with respect for the environment and for one another. Sometimes we even have to scramble to find rooms to accommodate the growing number of guests and visitors,” says Elske van de Hulst (program coordinator).
At the Open House located at Kreilweg 1 in Winterswijk Woold, visitors can participate in mini-classes in meditation, caring, Kum Nye Yoga, and mantra chanting on Sunday afternoon, October 18. Guided tours will be held every half hour, and we’ll showcase our plans for the ecological development of the additional land we’ve purchased. There will be live music and films about our spiritual teacher Tarthang Tulku and his global projects. Anyone who wishes can participate in sacred art workshops, meditate in silence in the Panorama Room, or enjoy a drink on the terrace.
No registration is required; everyone is welcome October 18 between 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Due to limited parking, visitors are asked to come by bike whenever possible.
