World Peace Stupa Center Winterswijk
After nearly 20 years, the dream of having a Nyingma retreat center between the two Nyingma City Centers in Amsterdam and Cologne is coming true. It now comes with the unique opportunity to build a World Peace Stupa.
The board of the WPSCE has signed the purchase agreement for a beautiful property at Kreilweg 1 in Winterswijk Woold. The overtaking is August 31, after which we start with a try-out period with lots of volunteer work and programs based on donations. The center will officially open in october 2025!
The municipality of Winterswijk is open for a stupa but requires some revisions in our in principle building request. We have now entered into a dialogue about height and landscape integration and are to send in a new design in May.
New Foundation
Together, the Nyingma Centers in Germany and the Netherlands have established a new, independent foundation under the spiritual guidance of Tarthang Tulku: the World Peace Stupa Center Europe Foundation. This foundation will establish the Stupa Center Winterswijk.
The purchase is final!
Hooray, we did it! Thanks to many heartwarming contributions from both home and abroad — loans, donations, bonds, and a 50% mortgage — we have been able to purchase the location.
As of September 1st, we will move in, and on Saturday, October 18th, the official opening of the World Peace Stupa Center Europe will take place.
Soon, the next phase of crowdfunding will begin. We need €160,000 to purchase an additional 2 hectares of land, plus several more hundreds of thousands for the construction of the World Peace Stupa itself.
We are currently in discussions with the municipality of Winterswijk regarding the exact height and placement of the stupa.
