Join us for a weekend retreat with Khenpo Kunga Dakpa, focused on cultivating aspiring Bodhichitta: the Mind of Enlightenment.
This weekend is based on chapter 1 and 3 of Shantideva’s 8th-century text, The Way of the Bodhisattva. It is a foundational Mahayana Buddhist text. This weekend also marks the start of the 10 day retreat The Path of the Bodhisattva.

We start Friday afternoon with an exploration of Shantideva’s life, and the foundational role his teachings play in Buddhist practice. The Bodhicharyavatara, translated into English as A Guide to The Bodhisattva’s Way of Life is a foundational text for many Buddhist practioners, monks and laypersons alike.

The Weekend focuses on Chapters 1 and 3 of the Bodhicharyavatara
  •  Chapter 1: The Excellence of Bodhichitta
    Learn how bodhichitta fosters compassion, openness, and resilience.
  • Chapter 3: Taking Hold of Bodhichitta
    Discover practical steps for awakening and sustaining bodhichitta, empowering yourself to navigate life’s challenges with wisdom and compassion.

  • The difference between relative and ultimate bodhichitta.
  • The two aspects of bodhichitta: aspiration and application.

Instructors
Khenpo Kunga Dakpa
Born in 1979, Khenpo Kunga Dakpa began his studies at Ngagyur Nyingma College, Mindrolling Monastic University in Northern India at the age of 19. Over nine years, he engaged in rigorous study and served in various roles, including assistant lecturer, senior lecturer, assistant editor, secretary, and vice president. He was given the title of Khenpo in February 2018. Driven by a deep passion for the teachings, he specializes in exploring mental realities and translating Tibetan Buddhist texts into English, sharing the timeless wisdom of the Dharma with a wider audience.

They say the Buddhist Path takes lifetimes of practice… But even small steps in opening the heart to love, understanding and compassion can make a profound change to daily life. The Lojong Mind training retreat scheduled for August 2026 in Winterswijk is a nice follow-up retreat. And the two Nyingma City Centers based in Amsterdam and Køln offer weekly couses online and in person in Buddhist Study and Practice.
