One with the World

In this weeklong retreat, we learn to stop “making sense” of our lives and simply inhabit them. No longer forced to be the one in charge of experience, we can let go of negativity, self-judgment, and endless distractions. Through experiment, reflection, and dialogue, we can discover the beauty we are already living. We can be one with the world we are.

Living in a world of increasing division and personal dissatisfaction, we are disconnected from our own experience. We mistakenly confuse the world of objective facts with the stories that shape our experience. We live a life ruled by habit and endless concerns.

“Human beings through the centuries have counseled one another to be more loving, to cultivate virtue, to treat others as ends rather than means. Yet despite that good counsel, not much has changed. I see the task before us differently—not about changing who we are, but about seeing the world differently.”

The above quotes are from a new book by Jack Petranker , to be published by Dharma Publishing USA. We are forunate that Jack agreed to lead a week long retreat based on this book in person in Winterswijk.

“People sometimes say you have to work at love, and that may be so. Yet it seems to me that it also goes in the other direction: love works on you. Head and chest and heart come together, and a special wholeness emerges.”
